How to find the best caravans for sale
When searching for a caravan there are a number of steps you should take which includes visiting several caravan dealerships. However, before you go out and visit dealerships there are a number of things you need to consider and perhaps make a list of these things. Make a list of what you'll need in your caravan i.e. size, towing strength of the vehicle, comforts, shape and what it will be used for. This will make it easier for a dealership to show you models that fit your needs this will reduce the time it takes to find something good.Make a list
Expert caravan sellers, buyers and dealers will advise that people start with making a list of all what they need. You then do some online research to find out which caravans will fulfill most of what you need. Then keeping this in mind visit local caravan dealerships to find these caravans at the best possible price. This will also make it very easy for you to search for second hand caravans being sold by individuals.
Comparison shopping
The only way you are going to find a caravan at a bargain is if you compare prices. Even if you are shopping for a new caravan the prices for a caravan will vary. The best thing to do is to visit local dealerships and make a note of their prices. Then visit online dealerships and find out what they charge. You also need to take delivery charges into consideration when dealing with online stores selling caravans. Once you have narrowed down your choice to the cheapest sellers you then need to check out their reputation.
Watch out for stolen caravans
Stolen caravans are often sold via online auction sites so people need to be careful with these. If you want to be really careful just choose to do business with a dealership either online or offline. However, with dealerships you can expect to pay around 10-20% more. When dealing with an individual ask them specific details about the caravan, then go out and personally inspect it. Note down the caravan's chassis number and get it cross checked by your local police department. If the seller hesitates or wants to meet at a location that is not his or her home then you need to be very careful because almost always these are either scams or the caravans are stolen.
People also need to steer clear of caravans that are sold for way cheaper than what they are worth. Many sellers of stolen caravans want to get rid of their loot quickly so they will offer to sell it at 50% of its actual market worth. When you are dealing with a seller like this its best to understand it's a scam early on and walk away to save time and find something legitimate.
Check the undercarriage
The undercarriage of many second hand caravans and even a few new ones are weak. Knock on the undercarriage and if you hear a deep thump then its solid, if not then it will either have to be reinforced or it could even indicate rust. This is an added expense you certainly do not want.
